Maya is shy and quiet when you first meet her. She doesn't really know how to interact with people in a normal setting. She's only ever been abused in some form or way and feels like everyone is out to get her. It's not that she doesn't want to believe that the few nice people are really nice, she just doesn't know how to see it. Cause He was nice at first until he came into her room.

The girl is extremely smart and is a bit of a computer hacker and knows how to do a lot which is how she gets a lot of her information for her blogs. That and she stalks chat, she's also a bit bland and doesn't stand out in a crowd so people don't seem to notice her and so they talk freely not paying much attention to the fact that she's around.

Maya's history is the reason she's so screwed up in the head. She was born to a cold woman who cared nothing of anyone but herself which in turn caused Maya's father to kill himself when she was only four and her mother to find solace in other men. She wasn't sad, but Nancy needed a new husband to keep up her happy family facade.

Well one of her boyfriends when Maya was only five had been really nice. He treated her kindly and she liked him a lot better than Nancy's other boyfriends. He took her out to the park and to get ice cream and all the fun things children love to do. But the only thing is he wasn't as nice as he appeared. It seemed Nancy was sure he would be the one and well Maya didn't want that. Not because she didn't want her mother to date someone but because of what he started to do to her. He touched her in places and made her touch him. She hated the thought of what went on back then.

Finally when Maya was seven she got the courage to tell her mother what happened. It didn't exactly go to plan and Nancy slapped her and told her "Do not dare try to ruin a relationship with such lies." Nancy never really cared for her son and daughter. She sent her sun to Hawthorne when he was a teenager and after this she decided to ship her off to Maxwell. Told him that Maya was his responsibility now and that she doesn't want anything to do with either of them.

That was the last the girl had heard from her mother and the rest of her life was pretty clean cut.She lived with her brother and Elle and didn't really know what to do about all of that. She stayed mostly to herself and only came out really for food. Max tried to get her sister to talk to him and communicate with him but the only thing she ever said was that she wanted to go to a boarding school.
