Hailey Dobbs cruised along the sidewalk on her skateboard, her head bobbing slightly to the music playing on her iPhone. The wind made her chocolate colored hair wave along behind her. It was a pretty nice day out, so there was no reason to stay inside and play an endless amount of video games in the dorm. The sky was a clear blue like Spring, but the air was frigid. The girl loved this kind of weather, well, she liked all kinds of weather because there was always something she could do. Fall and Spring were for skateboarding. Summer was for surfing and the Winter was for snowboarding. Hailey couldn’t wait for winter break so that she could spend the week up on Suicide Six with her friends, though she wasn’t looking forward to spending Christmas eve and Christmas day with her mom and her boyfriend. It was just something she was going to have to tough it through.
Turning the corner, Hailey skated through the gates into the park. There was absolutely no one in it, which was awesome. There were no little kids to bother her. Ha, their parents were probably keeping them inside to prevent them from getting sick or whatever bullshit they would tell their spawn nowadays. The best thing about boarding school was the fact that her parents weren’t around. They were both a few states away. Her dad was in Vermont and her mom was in New York. Lovely, eh? No one to nag her or anything. Though the phone calls were never fun from her mother. She was always trying to get Hailey to be exactly like her; popular and fake with a whole lot of fake friends. Well, the girl refused each and every time. She liked the friends she had now. She liked the group of kids she hung out with. They were real human beings that had their differences and made mistakes. They took risks and had their fun.
Hailey stepped off of her skateboard and leaned it up against the jungle gym. She looked up at the rungs on the monkey bars above her. There was no way she could reach them. This was one of those times where her height was a disadvantage to her. There were a few steps of a ladder that would make it easier, so she acted upon it, climbing up the ladder so her hands could grip the bars. Hand over hand, she made it to the center, pulling her legs up and through, hooking the back of her knees around one of the bars. Hanging upside down, Hailey’s chocolate colored hair looked as if it were standing up straight, like one of those troll dolls. She closed her eyes for a moment, enjoying the feeling of all of her blood rushing to her head. After a few minutes, dizziness hit her like a freight train. The girl pulled herself up, sliding through two bars and sat Indian style on top of the monkey bars. She pulled her iPhone out of her pocket and changed the song she was listening to before replying to a text message that she had received.

maxwell tristan alexander had been around skateboarding his whole life. both his parents skated and it was inevitable that he would do the exact same. it was also the reason he did a lot of things. because of his tight knit family. he had 3 uncles, an aunt, jayce and lilly and then his half sister who he loved. yeah his mother had a baby for his uncle jasper and uncle george because they couldn't have one. he thought it was sweet and nice. he also loved his aunt zo and uncle andy. he would spend days over there listening to his aunt tell stories about him mom and dad and everyone else that he also counted as his 'aunt' and 'uncles' but who were really just good friends. his mom and dad managed to have lots of friends and then he had them as well.
one would ask why you would go outside when you had so much family inside the school. well it was because trissy got bored so easily in his room as well as the school. he liked to be active, not just sit somewhere and do nothing for hours. that is unless it is a game of chess or studying. then again he never really had to study, he just did it because it was fun. yeah if the boy wasn't so much of a skater, he could be considered a bit of a nerd but that would be the fault of his mother, and his aunt zo and uncle andy. they had a big influence on how he treated school. his dad was the lazy one but trissy still loved him anyway.
the boy had grabbed his skateboard and began just skating down the sidewalk to just be content and happy. the wind blew across his body and he didn't care, he was fine just like this. skating, the wind, happiness. it was all perfect to him. the perfect day. really the only thing that would make this day better would be if he was with maddie. they hadn't been the same since she slept with van but he still loved her and he knew it was an accident. but it just always seemed awkward when he was around her. he wanted to rewind time and be the happy tristan and maddie who laid in bed and just cuddled and slept.
finally he made it across the park and decided to go in. who didn't like a good old park? he would go all the time after school and just slide down the slide or play pirates. not just when he was a kid, he did it just last tuesday. the boy wasn't always childish, but who didn't let go when they were at a park? what would the fun be if you just did nothing. yeah he was one to do something all the time because it was how he liked it. he just liked doing things. sitting back and watching annoyed him and made him anxious sometimes. seeing a silhouette of a person, he picked up his skateboard and walked towards the monkey bars and climbed up there to sit on them next to her. "hey," he said before flipping upside down and just hanged there like a bat before grabbing it with his hand and flipping so he hung normal and pulled himself up again. he wasn't showing off, he just needed to do something.

Hailey slid between the bars on the jungle gym and sat Indian style on the top. When she was that high above the ground she felt like she could rule the world, like she could be invincible and control the force of the wind that caused her messy, brown hair to flap around her face. Sometimes she would pretend that she had superpowers, actually she did that quite often. Hailey believed that she had powers until probably sixth grade when reality struck her. She used to be the ultimate superhero. The girl could move things with her mind like Matilda and was lightning fast like the Flash. She could morph into any animal that she pleased like Garfield Logan and could make herself invisible. One could say that the girl had a vivid imagination.
Fingers curled around the yellow, metal bar a few rungs in front of where Hailey was sitting, though she didn't notice until feet kicked up into her line of sight. She must have been staring without realizing it again. Awkward. The girl seemed to be doing that a lot recently. Maybe the weed was getting to her head a bit too much. Maybe she needed to cool it down for a little bit. Hailey took her headphones off of her head and hung them around her neck so that she could still hear her music. "Hey Tris," she spoke, watching as he dangled upside down like a bat. It was sort of funny seeing people from that angle, all the blood rushing to you head and their hair standing up straight like one of those troll dolls, plus she was looking downward at someone who wasn't five years old. That didn't happen often. Hailey was tiny. She stood at about four foot eleven, so close to hitting that five foot mark that she could almost taste it. Instead of a sweet sixteen, like any normal teenager, her friends were planning on throwing her a Five Foot Party. It sounded way more awesome than having a sweet sixteen. Her mind clicked back to the boy. "Just hangin' around?" she asked with a slight chuckle, pun completely intended.

tristan liked to just hang around like that and stare at people cause they look like the one's who are upside down. of course the boys beanie fell from on top his head and he watched it float to the ground before laughing a bit. oh well, he'll pick it up when he was ready to leave. he felt like a vampire bat and who didn't want to be a bat that could turn into a vampire? then he could be a good vampire and help save people with his massive vampire powers. wouldn't that be good? he could keep his maddie from getting hurt and protecting all his other friends too. that would be a perfect life. if only vampires were real and if only trissy knew one.
"i'm always hanging around," he said with a smile before flipping right side up and just laughing a little. "how have you been doing, miss hailey," he said all proper like with a slight dracula accent before he frowned and shook his head. "that doesn't work well for me. so what's up?" he nodded like he accomplished something and smiled. yeah the boy could be weird but it was why he got along well with lots of people. he was the type of boy to smile and shrug off certain things and really only got angry here and there. even then it was never too bad, he just yelled at van and milan and james. that's as bad as he's ever gotten. then again it was usually hard to piss off tristan but those three managed to do it. james doing it constantly.
just throwing his hands in the air, he felt like the king of the world and he screamed at the top of his lungs, "KING TRIS RULES" then he laughed so hard he couldn't breath and he clutched to the bars, feeling like he was going to fall backwards. "i should be careful."
